The biggest social media platform in the world Facebook signalled its increasing power and influence by displaying an impressive set of financial results that showed quarterly revenue passing $5bn for the first time, which puts it right in position to challenge Google’s dominance of Silicon Valley.
Facebook fourth-quarter report, which was released on 27 January, saw a 51.7% increase in revenues as as its newly adapted advertising formats and improved mobile app drove a sharp rise in ad sales. Facebooks total revenue rose to $5.84bn from $3.85bn a year earlier, with its advertising revenue increasing by 56.8% to $5.64bn which is not very supirising as its the holiday shopping period, when advertisers usually spend big on advertisements
