How to deal with cockroache infestation

cockroaches are the most annoying set of insects that I have ever encountered, not only are they extremely fast, they are also very hard to kill, cockroaches can survive for several days even with their heads cut off. When you sight a single cockroach in your home, just be sure there are at least 30 more hidden. They are hated almost everywhere in the world except in china, I head of a guy called Mr. Wang Funming also known as the roach king pin, he breeds roaches and sells them, get this he also eats them, like literally fries and eat cockroaches as a protein snack. Anyways there are pills sold in china which are made of parts from roaches, they function as casual cure for heart, liver & stomach ailments. Mr. Wang has over 20 million roaches in his farm, yes over a million. These simple tips will help you rid your house of cockroaches.

• Hygiene

Cockroaches like dirty places, its specifically their heaven, in order to keep them away from your home, you have to be a cleaning expert, maids can help you with the cleaning but they aren’t known exactly for their hard work, they usually clean were its visible & leave the tight corners or where your eyes cannot reach, which exactly where the roaches hide and build their nests. Its better if you do the job yourself.

• Seal all available openings 

Cockroaches are like ninjas, they can easily slip into your home through the smallest crack, they come in different sizes, some are small, while some are big, just block every available opening they can use to gain access into your home.

• Fix water leakages

Cockroaches like wet places, that’s why you can find them in large numbers under a leaking kitchen zinc, toilets especially pet latrines, & near soak away. Poor plumbing job usually leads to water leakages, which requires you to put a bucket to control the leakage, that gathered water ends up attracting roaches into your home, so immediately you notice a leakage get the plumber to get it fix immediately.

• Clean up residual food stuffs.

If you like living half eaten food stuffs uncovered, or leaving tiny pieces of food scrubs, you should stop, not only those it attracts roaches, but it also brings the super pheromones soldiers(ants) & we all know they are worse than roaches, because they are not afraid of humans & they also like to bite us. Trust me when I say it’s very painful & your whole body will feel it. So left over foods should always be covered up or stored in the fridge, remaining food scrubs should also be cleaned out. Empty the dustbin on regular bases especially the one in the kitchen.This one has a lot of watery liquid & food trash, the trash in the kitchen should be emptied daily and also make sure its well covered, a plastic bag should be perfect for it.

• Turn up the AC

Make it as cold as possible, or if you live in a cool environment just leave the windows open, roaches don’t like the cold, you may have noticed that they are always scarce during winter. Keeping your home cool keeps them away.

• Homemade remedies

When you are trying to kill a cockroach, it’s extremely fast & has that smelly defense mechanism that its secrets when it feels threatened. If the roach is too fast, simply mix soap and some water, this will slow it down, giving you sometime to send the Roche to meet his maker. When spraying the mixture, make sure you aim for the head & the abdomen, any kind of soap will do whether dish washing or bathing. You can also bait them & poison them by mixing some hydrogen Borate otherwise known as boric acid with some powdered sugar. The sugar quantity should be about a quarter of the mixture while borate is the rest. It smells a bit funny, just spray the powder where the roaches usually hide like dark corners & holes.

• Get a Cat

Cats are not only very cute but they help you get rid of mouse, rats etc. They also good at destroying roches, I can categorically say my cat is a professional in this field. it helped me a lot when roaches invaded my home during my absence.

• Insecticides

several different kinds exit but most don’t usually finish the roaches fast enough, it keeps them flying around for a bit which is very irritating. If you live in Nigeria you can use Rambo powder, its extremely cheap just 70 naira, but it’s very effective against roaches and ants, it kills roaches immediately upon contact, best part about it is that, it has no irritable smell & it isn’t harmful to humans & pets.One of the best things about this powder is that it can last for a very long time, as long as the powder is there, all cockroaches and insects will totally avoid that place.

If you feel the roach army are too high in number for you to handle, just call in the exterminators, they are professionals just like the monster hunters from the witcher series. The only difference is they hunt insects instead of monsters. Don't worry your action will not make cockroaches extinct in this world, They are even more tenacious than humans when it comes to survival.
